Jean Shinoda Bolen uses Jungian archetypal analysis to compare the basic personality traits of Women, using metaphors from the Greek and Roman myths. This is a very healing book grounded in usable psychology. There is a companion book "Gods in Everyman", Which I also recommend to better understand your significant other (not that it would have saved my relationships, but if I had read it earlier I would have understood the dynamics of the relation ships better.

Finally, it you are women at the mid life or menopausal phase of your life, I highly recommend Crossing to Avalon; On pilgrimage to sacred sites including Chartres, Glastonbury, and Iona, Bolen, a physician, Jungian analyst, and professor of clinical psychiatry, traces their histories and significance.
